Simatic Redconnect for Wonderware?

ry_fern Posts: 32 Rating: (0)	Hi guys, Good day! I just want to verify something. We are to upgrade an S7-400 stand alone instalation to a Fault-Tolerant S7-400 system. We also need to make the existing Wonderware HMI to be the same. I'm thinking that all I need are Simatic Redconnect and CP 1XXX cards to make the Wonderware HMI fault tolerant. Am I correct or am I missing something important? I was able to use redconnect before and I know that for Redconnect to function, MAC addresses are used instead of IP addresses. However, I don't remember Wonderware having a driver for Siemens MAC address. That's why I am asking the above question. Hoping for your opinions. Thanks.

jklm Platinum Member Joined: 12/22/2006 Last visit: 1/25/2022 Posts: 1742 Rating: (309)	Hello, S7 Redconnect based on CP1613 is now called Hardnet IE S7 Redconnect See http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/60592369 V8.2 runs on Win7 (not on XP) This version supports also S7 connections based on iso-on-tcp (that runs on top of IP) where previous versions supported S7 connections on ISO only (MAC based). See http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/63098071(point c) Because it is delivered together with S7-OPC server, I would advise to investigate if Wonderware can be OPC client and check if that combination is suitable for you.

If I got this right,Does this mean, aside from MAC adress, I can now configure redconnect using TCP/IP? Also, Wonderware has OPCLink that can connect to OPC servers. I haven't used Simatic Net and OPCLink before so I think I should try to test this combination.
