SIMATIC S5-100U, CPU 103 in Stop Mode

Parica29 Posts: 9 Rating: (0)	Dears, Good day! I hope you and your family are well. We have a problem with one of our SIMATIC S5-100U, CPU 103. The CPU is always in stop mode even if we reset the power supply several times it didn't work. We tried to replace CPU, all input/output modules as well as its backplane one at a time but the problem still exists. Kindly advise us on how to solve this issue. Thanks. Hello From your picture I can see that you have no memory module. Even if the Battery Fault Light is not ON, are you sure that you still have a Program in the PLC? As Wizard stated. Can you go Online and look at the I Stack information and even upload here so we may point you in the right direction. If you do not have this capability, I would suggest you contact a local controls house that can help you with the trouble shooting. Regards / m.f.g

We already sent it to the repairshop and they concluded that the CPU has a hardware problem as they could not load the program which I have sent them. They sent us a different type of CPU, SIMATIC S5-100U, CPU 100 with the program loaded but it didn't work as well. I'm not actually familiar with S5 because in S7 once you changed it with different type of module, you also have to change the hardwawe configuration. Could you give me the procedures on how to load our backup program from S5-100U, CPU 103 to S5-100U, CPU 100. Regarding the ISTACK, I was able to get online but when I switched to the ISTACK tab it could not be accessed. Kindly advise. Attachment ISTACK cannot be access.jpg (94 Downloads)

Unless you check your S5 program to see if it fits and will work in a CPU 100, you may be out of luck trying to get your CPU 103 program into it. Attached is a pic which highlights the key capabilities differences between the two CPU's an the manual to help in general is available HERE. Bottom line, assuming your original program does: NOT use any of the block, timer or counter numbers that the CPU103 offers AND NOT use any of the inbuilt FB's that the CPU103 offers AND NOT has more than 8 Analogue I/O's AND is size wise small enough to fit the CPU 100's limited RAM AND you can live with a slower program execution time you may have a winner (but - as said - you need to check your S5 program first and my advise is to get another CPU 103). Peejay Member Joined: 12/16/2015 Last visit: 5/19/2021 Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	Hi Patricia, I recently had a similar issue with a 95U although I was able to access the CPU, cant remember what the fault message was except I couldn't find any info on it. No matter what I did, cold,warm resets, load from Eprom always straight into STOP. Finally in act of desperation I began taking the cards out the rack one by one starting at the end. 3 or 4 cards in I removed an Input card and the PLC jumped back into run. Funny thing is electrically the card appeared to be ok with input LEDs going on and off as required. Good luck PeeJay
