With Win7 you must have a NECxHCI chip (>=VMware V8) or an Intel controllers set (>=VMware V12) to virtulize a USB3 Port. (see https://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=2128105) Or you use a USB 2.0 only port of your Host PC. In the attached screenshot the PC adapter must not be found under the USB 3.0 Hostcontroller (blue marked), but under one of the USB Enhanced Host controllers (USB Enhanced means USB 2.0) |

I use Usb2 port in Houst and in the virtual machine.
