Simatic Software Causing Windows Taskbar to Lock Up

Profi-monkey Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	Hi, I have just installed the Simatic software V 6.1 CD on my PC. everything works OK (no errors reported) but Windows Explorer and the Windows Taskbar now regularly freeze and need to be killed and restarted. This happens without any of the Siemens software acutally running. Has anyone else experienced this? I am using Windows XP SP3 and SIMATIC NET Software Product CD 11/2002 (software version V6.1). Thanks

Profi-monkey Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	Thanks for the reply - it looks like you could be right, despite Windows XP being mentioned in the readme file on the CD. I guess I have two problems now: Firstly, is new software available as a free upgrade and secondly, I recall from earlier dealings with this software that you have to re-format your drive before you can upgrade (advice from a Siemens engineer). Do you happen to know if the software upgrade is available free of charge? Thanks Tony

Yea, this doesnt surprise me but I'm not prepared to downgrade the OS on my development PC for this - I'd rather select a board from another manufacturer. I thought I had bought a PCI card with supporting software. Other suppliersusually provide upgrades for free but I guess Siemens are just to big to worry about the likes of me. Thanks again for the reply
