Simatic TP177B dead?

Buestad Posts: 9 Rating: (0)	I have a TP177B which won't start up correctly. It shows the boot screen showing the bootloader version, OS version and MAC address. Once the progressbar shows up it goes up to about 10% in the blink of an eye and the screen goes white for a few seconds and then black with a horizontal red line across the middle of the screen. I have tried reaching it using both MPI/DP and Ethernet going through accessible nodes in Simatic Manager. Probably it is not reachabel because i have to press the "invisible" transfer button on the screen at startup Any ideas? (note: the slightly visible red line at the boot screen disappears if I turn off the screen for a longer period, so never mind it...) Attachment TP177b.jpg (483 Downloads)

Otherwise, you have to contact the project programmer to give you configuration file and download it to a new Panel. Hope this helps.

Buestad Posts: 9 Rating: (0)	I am the project programmer. This panel has been replaced by a new one which is sent to the customer. I was hoping this broken panel had just a software failuare since the boot screen shows up fine, and when it starts loading it fails... I wanted to reach it to do a OS update.

Whenever such strange problems happen to Simatic Panels, the best solution is to update its OS. But as you can not reach to this stage during booting your Panel, then you have to replace it or send it to your local Siemens Partner for repair.

Serial number define which period this panel was produced. And according to 7th post of thisthread, your panel may be affected by this problem. Check and inform us. And if your panel was produced from 06/03/2011 to 06/30/2011, then you can Contact your local Siemens representative and replace it. Boti Hi all, The result from support request: within the scope of our regular quality checks, we detected an increased fluctuation of the operating point in a vendor part in one batch of the above-stated products. As a result, the devices may repeatedly reboot during the start-up phase in sporadic cases. The eventually affected devices with the above-stated MLFBs were manufactured in the period from 06/03/2011 to 06/30/2011. The device datecode indicates whether the module was manufactured during this period (see photograph). Modules which were not manufactured during this period are not affected by the described behavior. Affected MLFBs: SIMATIC HMI TP277 6“ 6AV6643-0AA01-1AX0 SIMATIC HMI OP277 6“ 6AV6643-0BA01-1AX0 SIMATIC HMI TP177B mono DP 6AV6642-0BC01-1AX1 SIMATIC HMI TP177B color PN/DP 6AV6642-0BA01-1AX1 SIMATIC HMI OP177B mono DP 6AV6642-0DC01-1AX1 SIMATIC HMI OP177B color PN/DP 6AV6642-0DA01-1AX1 "B6" in the device code means "2011 June". Test: B5= ... (2011 May) A9= ... (2010 September) I am currently exchanging the panels manufactured in the stated period with the support of our local Siemens retailer. Boti Hope this helps.

Buestad Posts: 9 Rating: (0)	I think this panel is older. The order number is 6AV6 642-0BA01-1AX0 the serial is S C-V2D83377 (I think, if it is the number printed below the order number) Is it any use sending it to Siemens og should I just "bin it" Henrik

Buestad Posts: 9 Rating: (0)	Since this is a TP177B I cannot use ethernet to do a factory reset. According to the document I can use an "RS232/PPIMulti-mastercable" (6ES7 901-3CB30-0XA0) I have only a PC adapter USB and a CP5711. Can I use any of these? I struggle to get the CP5711 to work (the device cannot start (code:30)) so if I cannot use it I don't want to spend any more time figuring out the driver... By the way, I'm using WinCC flex 2007 pro with ProSave 7.4 (not 9.0 as in the document)

The USB PC adapter is not possible. And the CP5711, I doubt it will work with WinCC flex. 2007. Best regards, Wizard
