simodrive 611A spindle replacement

Hello,

1. Yes you can replace your 611A analog drive with Sinamics.

2. Can it operate on 600V DC bus of present 611A drive bus - Answer is NO.

3. Can I remove spindle drive & run system - NO.

To replace 611A drive with Sinamics you need CU310-2DP 6SL3040-1LA00-0AA0, Sinamics converter 6SL3210-1SE31-1AA0, SMC10 module 6SL3055-0AA00-5AA3. 

Please note, with CU310-2DP you need to connect on Profibus with NCU & it can control single axis only.

Sinamics converter needs 3 phase AC 380-480 V AC supply (here I presume it as your AC input supply range. If it is other than it, you need to select appropriate converter module)

SMC10 is to connect your motor encoder to drive.

CU310 has onboard Analog & digital inpputs which you can configure.

Please note, since 840C is old NCU, you need to confirm connectivity & communication compatibility of 310CU witg NCU on Profibus. For this you may contact your nearest Siemens support center.

Yes you can connect it. Read reply by Pisean, wherein he/she has cleared mentioned that CU 310 has on board analog & digital I/O.

 But canI replace this spindle drive by say another brand and separate it from this drive configuration.

What I mean to say is, you cannot simply disconnect present 611analog drive & run the system.

Moreover to adopt new Sinamics drive, you need to check your present PLC CPU & hardware, need to modify PLC logic. Since it is new technology, it can be adopted/connected to old drive. You will need to install this hardware & can interface it with your present system. Also need to check present motor encoder type & connection to interface correctly. So please contact your nearest Siemens support center.

It can not be simply plug & play type solution.    

It is absolute possible to replace 611A drive with above Sinamics packcage.

 I don't fully understand your question, after read you machine CNC is 840C and check your drive config. I strongly suggest you --

Do NOT replace  SINAMICS drive and motor, if you did not order any HW.

suggest to keep 611A spindle , let me know why you want to replace. 

if you really want to replaced --I suggest you replaced with SIMODRIVE 611D or 611U . if you make you mind, which one you want. let me know I can fully support you for those. 

Let me know you have knowledge of Siemens PLC , S5  or S7, you also know 840C set up ?

at least one advantage : for 611 D or 611U , it is possible keep your spindle motor   

and they are easier connected to 840C. you don't need other CU3xx, 840C has NC-CPU, which plays the role of CU

Hello every One;

I have a machine Operated with simunerik 840c CNC system connected with 611A Drive System.

The Drive Configuration is attached.

The question is Can I replace spindle drive shown with siemens sinamcs one  (stand alone one with its own 600vdc supply) with an analog reference input voltage?

Is the drive system operated well if I remove the spindle drive from the drive chain?

Does the drive system make check on it self so that it will start the axis drives if I remove the spindle drive?

The control signals of the spindle is also attached.
