Simodrive 611D Armature short-circuit DC braking

 I don't think 611D has a similar function. or very less application by 611D, I will check the parameters to confirm.  Look:

I did not read S120 with that function in detail, But I know the old Siemens VFD--called MASTERDRIVE CUVC, and even MM440, have this kind of function you mentioned.

Do you notice what kind of motor you mentioned controlled by S120--I think it is AC motor, MASTERDRIVE CUVC also controls AC motor, both of them using DC braking function to fast stop.motor.

SIMODRIVE 611D was designed for using in CNC machine together with 840D Powerline. most 611D application control Servo motor (or call "brushless DC motor") these kinds of motor no ramp function it starting and stopping very quick (ramp time is=0). off cause in CNC there is also spindle motor (less than 1/5) the spindle motor is a special AC motor and has ramp- up-and-down function, but due to mechanical strengthen, it is not allowed fast stop or spindle unit will be broken.

I will double-check  611D for  spindle motor parameters to confirm and update here

In Sinamics S120 there is a possibility to use Armature short-circuit, DC braking functions internally in the drive.

Is there any similar function in Simodrive 611D?

I cut the part of the function you mentioned see attached. please check if that is what you mean

If that is you mean, I may say that is only theoretically. At least for me, I did not know any machine builder use that function. Do you notice the warring--That function will demagnetization motor--or saying damage the servo motor. that is one reason the OEM doesn't want the risk. another reason maybe, the circuit is too complicated. 

Actually, if you joined to design and installation the CNC , you will know most of the heavy vertical axis have balance device --(count-balance or hydraulic-balance) the scenes in that Siemens 611D function cannot happen. 

Also as you already mentioned that is not like DC brake function

Yes it is the same function & I knew about it. You may also notice that this function if implemented, can partial de-magnetise & not fully motor rotor. This function is suitable specifically for verticle axis & that too in case if the axis moves over hard limits & if power fails, it will put into operation. This is in order to protect machine verticle axis mechanics.

Yes, he asked 611D because he did not know functions of 611D, he was thinking SINAMICS as same as 611D but, as you know SINAMICS system is a combination of SIMODRIVE and MASTERDRIVE--

according to the Siemens development policy.

DC Braking function is one of the important functions in MASTERDRIVE, I have been worked in Siemens training center  in Beijing  and Shanghai, China, that function is one excise to practice designed by Siemens Germany 

anyway , after the discussion I got more information

if you can give the real machine builder example for 611D, that will be more than good
