Simotion C240 and CP343-1

DavidBrown Gold Member Joined: 6/29/2012 Last visit: 12/25/2023 Posts: 975 Rating: (9)	I was asking this question because I need to setup a configuration for a hydraulic application (no electric drive axes) where I need : - Profibus DP 1.5 Mb - Profinet as RT IO -controller - Industial ethernet - I need to take in SSI-encoders and analog inputs synchronously and fast, so Isochronous Profibus and or Profinet IRT. A Simotion C 240PN with IM174 and ET200SHF on Isochronous Profibus could do the job. But I am seriously thinking of using Simotion D435-2PN with CBE30-2 board.With that I could use both Profinet RT and IRT (on CBE30-2 and onboard interface), and the SSI-encoders on SMC-module Moreover, the cycle times for servo-task could be faster Could there be any reasons not to choose the D435-2PN?

casajr Posts: 153 Rating: (8)	D435 PN + ET200s High Speed Interface module should work. I'm not sure you really need the CBE. I have never used the SSI interfaces, but the SM's are quite expensive. You may be able to use the ET200 for that at a lower cost using the SSI interface cards. Set up your nodes as an IRT domain. You are wasting the drive controller, but the cost of the C240 and the D435 is about the same, at least when I checked it out.

SSI on ET200S is no option in my case : the SSI encoder is singleturn and with ET200S there seems to be a problem when passing the modulo. The CBE is because I want to separate Profinet IRT and RT (although it could be on the same bus, but I want to keep it on different busses), and on C240PN I can only have one Profinet interface (CP343 cards are not supported). The D435-2PN should also be faster.
