Simple Speed Control of a G120C PN Drive

Hi All,

I have come to a point where I think I'm out of my depth.

I have been working on the S7-1214C and S7-1212C for a year or two now and would like to say I am making some good progress.

However, in my naivety, I had made an assumption that connecting a S7-1214C and G120C PN via Profinet would be understandable, but I am just looking blank at the screen.

What am I trying to do: OUT OF MY DEPTH!

I have a pump that I need to speed control, however the speeds could be fixed set points.
The pump only goes in one direction, so no need for reverse direction.
I need to start and stop the pump.

My plan: WRONG!

Once communicating via Profinet, I would send a signal to start (BIT Change 0 to 1), a signal to stop (BIT Change 1 to 0) and a word to change the speed.

Where I am: LOST!

I have the PLC, HMI and Drive devices setup in TIA V15.
I have connected the wiring as to many diagrams I have seen. E/Stop at 9,16,17 and Links 69,34,28.

My Options: FAIL SAFE!

I can use digital outputs to operate the fixed set points and the start, stop.
I can learn the Profinet communications at a later date.

Any help, comments or advice would be brilliant.

when you want to do an easy PROFINET control of your G120C I recommend to do the following:

Select the fieldbus macro for communication/control of your G120C -> so standard telegram 1 should be selected for your drive communication. In TIA Portal network the G120C with your PLC - ensure that PROFINET name and IP address are given correctly in the properties of the PN interface of the drive. 

For the PLC program (to control the drive via PLC) use the SINA_SPEED FB from the DriveLib. That block is very simple - just switching on/off and giving a speed setpoint - exactly what you were looking for. 

At the HW ID inputs of the SINA_SPEED block you need to set the Hardware ID of the standard telegram 1 of your drive....you will find this number in your PLC tags -> System constants. See the documentation of the DriveLib for further information.
