fawads Regular Member Joined: 10/28/2014 Last visit: 12/11/2024 Posts: 20 Rating: (0)	Hello, I am currently trying to simulate HMI with Siemens S7-300 CPU 314 PLC , I tried before simulating the HMI with PLC sim and its working , but with real PLC I dont know is it possible to simulate HMI with Siemens PLC. I have Siemens TIA portal v12 combo license , it comes with simatic HMI Wincc Basic v12

If you work before with PLCSIM check the PG/PC Settings in the conmtrol panel. S7ONLINE should set to the Ethernet Card/PROFIBUS Cardwhich is connected with the PLC. regards Chrstoph

I didnt understand the point you mentioned to change the plcsim to ethernet from control panel. Do u mean I need to interface the PLC with profinet interface while simulating HMI? . Since original HMI uses Profinet interface to communicate with PLC.

ChristophD Grandmaster-Expert Joined: 5/12/2006 Last visit: 3/23/2025 Posts: 22596 Rating: (3056)	Hello, to communicate between the simulated HMI an the real PLC you must use the connection between the PC and the PLC. If you simulate both HMI and PLC on one PC the the settings are all internal via PLCSIM. To coimmunicate with the real PLC you must have a connection from the HMI to plc using the S7ONLINE access point from PG/PC settings in the control panel. You should set this Access Point to the MPI Adapter and the run th Simulation for the HMI. Regards Christoph

fawads Regular Member Joined: 10/28/2014 Last visit: 12/11/2024 Posts: 20 Rating: (0)	Hello ChristophD I change the setting to MPI adapter as you mention but still its not simulating, Note : PLC is connected with MPI adapter to PC Do i need to make other changes in properties of HMI since there Profinet interface is defined and it doesnt have option for MPI . And check which settings you have in the HMI Connection of the project! If you have a PROFINET Only panel projected the you can't use a MPI connection to communicate between the HMI simulation and the PLC. two Option: You can use a Panel with MPI interface or use a Ethernet connection between PC and PLC. I am now using this configuration PLC and PC are connected using MPI interface with simulation of MPI configured HMI running on PC and with S7online set to MPI Can you forward me the link from where I can read about all these settings in S7online ,which setting to choose when ? Should I connect PLC and PC with Profibus ? Thanks
