Sinamics Drive with encoder

Dear Experts,

I am going to replace old Toyo Denki vfd new one. Motor have encoder SUMTAK /LHD-007-600A/. I have bought CU310-2DP /6SL3040-1AL00-0AA0/ Power module 340 /6SL3210-1SE23-2UA0/

Will Sinamics s120 VFD work with SUMTAK encoder.

It is very hard to find technical data for that encoder on the internet.

Please post the specifications of the encoder. Important is to know which kind of encoder this is in the first step.

How much is encoder supply voltage? It is not mentioned.

If it is 5 V or 24 V DC, you can connect but you will need SMC30 6SL3055-0AA00-5CA2 module.

so to me this looks like a HTL encoder. Usually you can use those kind of encoders at a CU310-2. It has the interface X23 for connecting such encoders. Regarding the encoder supply voltage I am not so sure as I am not a specialist for encoder systems.

So in the end I think you can try it but I cannot say for sure if it will work. Maybe someone else here in the forum knows better than me ;)

 Encoder's supply voltage is 12vdc

If you absolutely must use this specific encoder, you should consider an encoder buffer / splitter that can transform the 12V encoder signal into a 5V or 24V signal.  There are many options.  Just be sure and do the math for bandwidth (BW) requirements.  You do not want to order a 100kHz BW splitter only to find out you needed 1MHz BW.
