If you have never used Siemens drives before there is a few things you are going to need to know.
There is a control word STW1 mapped to some bits in your CPU output map. The "Control via PLC" STW1.10 bit has to be on or no bits are under PLC control. STW1.1 though STW1.6 have to be on. Then STW1.0 can be on (movement starts). There is a status word back from the drive ZSW1 in your CPU input map. After turning on each bit in the control word you get indication that the drive has performed that step and is ready for the next step.
