Sinamics S110 With Absolute Encoder Lose Reference

Omega Posts: 13 Rating: (0)	Hello, I have an application with Sinamics S110 and Control Unit 6SL3040-0JA00-0AXX operating in basic positioning mode with a SSI absolute encoder. After turn off / on the drive, it is losing the reference of encoder, and a strange value of LU appears in the drive. When this happen I need do open de Starter and make a new calibration of the encoder using the option of homing. After that the drive back do normal operation. Does anyone have any idea why the drive is losing the reference encoder since it's an absolute encoder ? best regards,

A.Gabardo Posts: 87 Rating: (7)	Hi It is not a problem of the drive. Maybe that your encoder it is a Single Turn. Encoder absolut Single Turn: Single turn encoder are encoders that specify the absolute position for one turn of the shaft i.e. for 360°. After one turn the measuring range is completed and starts again from the beginning. Please, check if your encoder it is a Single Turn or Multi Turn type. Hope this helps. Regards

A.Gabardo Posts: 87 Rating: (7)	There is an option in the option Mechanics -> Virtual Axis Multi-turn, you can stretch it a bit this track, but if the screw or your motion is too big there is no usefulness, the encoder will need to be replaced, or always reference the axis.
