Sinamics S120 holding brake when power is off

We use such a system: [snip] 1.6SL3040-1MA01-0AA0 -CU320 2.6SL3120-2TE15-0AD0 -SINAMICS S120 DOUBLE MOTOR MODULE 3.1FK7042-2AK71-1RH0 - SIMOTICS S with holding brake It is necessary that when the drive is turned off, the brake is held. It depends upon the type of load e.g. in case of vertical axis or vertical load e.g. hoist, lift etc. motor holding brakes are provided so that in case of any problem or supply cutt off state, load/axis should be safely held in position. So check what type of system you have. HTH

Mainly is used to maintain DC bus voltage withing limit e.g. during regeneration, DC bus voltage is kept constant by delivery excess power thru DBR. It can not be alternate for motor holding brake.
