SINAMICS S120 upload

kosmous Experienced Member Joined: 1/24/2009 Last visit: 3/29/2024 Posts: 85 Rating: (7)	Hi, we need to connect to SINAMICS drives and make a backup ( upload ) of the cofiguration ( parameters ). The drives of SINAMICS S120 family are the following : 6SL3210-1SE31-5AA0 with control unit 6SL3040-0lA00-0AA1 6SL3224-0BE24-0AA0 with control unit 6SL3244-0BA20-1PA0 ( CU240S DP ) The drives are connected each other via Profibus. 1) The parameters are stored only in the Control unit ? 2) About the software, Sinamics scout 4.1 or strater is the appropriate software ? 3) About the connection cable, we have available USB to MPI adapter and USB to PPI adapter. Using USB to MPI and Profibus settings in PG/PC will the connection be established ? 4) Propably, we can upload from all profibus connected drives instead of connecting to each drive separate. see attached photo Attachment Photo_02.jpg (550 Downloads)

The actual Version you can download here. 1) on the CU310 the parameters stored on the CF Card in the CU 2) on the CU240 the parameters stored on the builtin memory of the CU 3) if you Adapter have PROFIBUS support the you can use it, which Adapter have you exactly? 4) yes you can upload all connected drives insteed of cennecting each drive seperatly Regards Christoph

kosmous Experienced Member Joined: 1/24/2009 Last visit: 3/29/2024 Posts: 85 Rating: (7)	Thank you for the quick answer, CU310 version B ( see attached ) CU340 version E01 3) our USB/MPI adapter is 6ES7 972-0CB20-0XA0 ( PC ADAPTER USB ). As i can see, SIMOTION SCOUT searches the connected drives and shows them in the tree online. So, you can select the drive and upload the parameters. It is not necessary to create a hardware config before start searching, so i think the FW versions do not affect the successfully connection - upload. I think there would be problem with FW versions if the version 4.1 of SCOUT does not support the current Firmwares of the drives. In this case we need propably newer version of SCOUT or Hardware catalog udate ( if it is possible ) Starter is not affected of FW versions ? Kind regards Attachment CU310.jpg (345 Downloads)

ChristophD Grandmaster-Expert Joined: 5/12/2006 Last visit: 10/11/2024 Posts: 22410 Rating: (3017)	Hello, this adapter can only work with PROFIBUS baudrate 1,5 MBit/s. If you have projected a 12 Mbit Network the adapter wiill found no devices. When scout detect the device correctly the you can upload the devices to a empty project, no HWConfig is needed. The newest Starter support th old FW , so is not really affected. Regards Christoph

kosmous Experienced Member Joined: 1/24/2009 Last visit: 3/29/2024 Posts: 85 Rating: (7)	Yes that's right. 1) in this case we must etablish a connection with each one separately using USB/MPI adapter ? 2) Alternatively, we could establish a connection via Profibus using CP5512 PC card for laptop : 6GK15512AA00. Does it support 12Mbit ? 3) Also, we could establish the connection via Profinet but we don't know the IPs and the subnet ( propably we can find IPs in the control units using their dipslay) Is there any other way to ceonnect to sinamics ? ChristophD Grandmaster-Expert Joined: 5/12/2006 Last visit: 10/11/2024 Posts: 22410 Rating: (3017)	Hello, 1) yes but you must disconnect each CU from the PROFIBUS Network 2) yes the CP5512 support up to 12 MB/s 3) Profinet? You have only DP Drives without any PN Interface so there ist no way to connect the drives with Ethernet/PROFINET. Regards Christoph
