I have an S7-315 connected to a TIM 4R - IE communication module. This comm. module is connected to two MD720-3 GSM/GPRS modems and setup to form a redundant comuunication path. Up to this stage are there any software licensing requirments regardless Sinaut Engineering Software v5.3 ? The above mentioned configuration has to send/receive data via mobile carriers and ISP modems to another S7-315 processor and a TIM 4R - IE which are connected to a SCADA application running on a desktop PC. What is Sinaut ST7sc Scada connect software, is it an add-on for WinCC ? Regardless, SINAUT terminals (in my case 1) and ST7sc licenses is there anything I should be aware of in order to achieve a redundant path between the two configurations? Thanks in advanced. Mircea

AndSwe1 Posts: 18 Rating: (1)	Hello ! First of all I'm not see my self as an expert but a have worked with Sinaut a couple of years. So I'll hope I can give you some answers. Yes you must buy a license of the engineering tool ST7 V5.3 to be able to cofigure the system. If the SCADA is WinCC you use the add on ST7cc. If the SCADA isn't WinCC you use ST7sc which is an OPC-server. In this case the SCADA must be able to act as a OPC-client to be able to connect to ST7sc. Both ST7cc and ST7schave three diffrent licenses: S = maximum 6 connected so called outstaions. M = maximum12 connected so called outstaions. L = more than 12 connected so called outstatons. Ofcourse you can upgrade a licenseif you add more outstations. I don't know if this is relevant for you but TIM 4R-IE is capable to work alone whitout CPU. So if you don't need the CPU for another purpouse at the SCADA side you don't need it. /AndSwe

I also find a nice description in siemens industry mall regarding redundant telecontrol: https://mall.industry.siemens.com/mall/en/WW/Catalog/Products/10020865?tree=CatalogTree Still I don't understand what is the role of "SIMATIC NET SOFTNET for IE license for CP software". Maybe someone can provide some explanations. What I understood is that it is a software that goes "hand in hand" with some hardware communication modules (e.q. CP1623) which are installed within the computer that runs the WinCC application. Am I right? Is it a must? Is it the only solution? Thanks, Mircea.

Rated X Posts: 1547 Rating: (129)	1. You need SIMATIC NET for ST7CC to be functional. 2. WinCCdoes have the small SIMATIC NET licence included. 3. Redundant connections between TIMs are possible, only the SINAUT ES is needed. 4. If the SCADA is redundant, there is also a ST7CC R licence, for redundant ST7CC installations.
