Sinec L1 - Converting to S7 question

Liftaren Posts: 21 Rating: (2)	As in my earlier thread about the IP245, I am planning a migration from S5 to S7 and have some unsolved issues with the hardware. This is (probably) the toughest: There are frequency converters installed on the machine. These are reached with the Sinec L1 bus from the S5. In the planning, a change of these inverters are to be made. By that, it is bye-bye L1, but we still have the S5 running. Is it possible to convert L1 to Profibus with some "magic black-box" or do we need to get the S5 to speak Profibus to the inverter? Second issue: If the inverers are not replaced, is there a way for the S7 to be L1-master for them?

J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (411)	Hello Liftaren, the former L1 Bus is not supported by S7 at all. I fear you will have to find either another vendor who has a "black Box" to convert PROFIBUS DP to L1 or you will have to change everything. Best regards J_Bell
