Hello, Since the representatives at Siemens can't provide me the information I need, or don't want to... I;ll post it here. In short: Working on a plant with S7400 as master and on the Profibus DP integrated are ET200M modules and 5 CPU's, which two of them have a CP342-5 module. The Profibus is going from the S7400 to a Sinec L2 switch (optic fibre) MLFB number is: 6GK1502-4AA10. From there, the data is sent through optic fibre to different Sinec L2 modules in a ring. Every individualET200m and CPUis connected to their own Sinec switch. I can't see the Sinec in the released modules document, but the question is if this setup still works (under pcs7 7.1). Or do we need to add CP343-1 modules to every CPU and Scalance switches? |

Hello, And you could check alone in Which modules and their firmware versions are released for PCS 7 and how can you upgrade them? Best regards, Hristo Mihalev |

Hello guys, Myself wasn't sure about the OLM's because I didn't see it in the released modules document... Someone from technical support at Siemens told me that we need to place a CP343-1 module in the CPU's and then the communication would go through ethernet, and ofcourse with Scalance switches. I thought this wasnotnecessary and that there is a simpeler way. The optic fibre ring has a total lenght of 400mtr's so replacing this with ethernet is not an option. I can't testthe setup because the cpu must be upgraded... So I just going to try out.. Umencho:I wasn't aware of this help file, thank you for sharing... Best regards, |

Siemens says that the S7300 CPU's need to be connected to a CP343-1 module instead of the CP342-5 module. Then they have to be connected to a Scalance switch and then to the S7400-CP443-1. From what I've learned at this forum and all the info... I think it should be possible to leave everything it is and just connect the S7300 CPU with a CP342-5 to the Profibus and that there is no need of a CP343-1 card... Can somebody confirm this? |

Hello people, Thx for the answers... My main problem is that Siemens says (insist): - Sinec modules cannot be used - The only option is to place a CP343-1 module My experience -> info, forums etc. is that they are wrong but I cannot test this (yet) Just want to start up the plant without too much change.. The plant has a lot of modification in the mechanical part so when the plant is optimized, then I can start thinking about optimizing the configuration. Best regards.... |

Are you sure about the fact that there is a CP342-5Basic and Extended? There are two versions of CP342-5: CP342-5 (profibus connection)and CP342-5 FO (optic fibre connection). I checked this in the industry mall... |
