Hello Kevvie; Sinec L2 is not directly compatible with Profibus-DP, being a pre-existing protocol supported only by Siemens equipment. But many later Sinec L2 porocessors came with an option "DP-Standard" which allowed them to work with Profibus-DP masters, with some restrictions on the bus speeds (generally up to 1,5 MB) and data exchange limitations. This last should be no problem in the case of a Siemens drive using PPOx configurations, as this limits the number of bytes for each cyclic data exchange with the Profibus-DP master. As you can see in the following extract from a Masterdrive manual (see the attached screencapture) the CB1 accepts Profibus-DP configurations: 12 Guidelines to changeover from CB1 to CBP - Siemens You probably shall need to integrate the CB1 in your Step 7 Profibus Configurator (in HWConfig); you can find the required gsd file (SIEM8022,gsd) for the CB1 as a Profibus-DP slave in the following link: PROFIBUS GSD files : MASTERDRIVES Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |

Hello Kevvie; In the sense that the CB1 only allows cyclic communications (and diagnostics)betwen master and slave, you could say that it is a DPV0 Profibus slave. Here are some presentations on the same subject, first from the Siemens forum: Difference between DP V0, DP V1 and DP V2 and from Profibus.com: What are the differences between PROFIBUS V0, V1, and V2? Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |
