SINUMERIK 850 - 880 DRIP FEED

shejanov Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	hello, i have to milling machines with SINUMERIK 850 and SINUMERIK 880 and 128 kb of RAM. i would like to run larger programs so i have to make direct DNC link with PC. Is it possible to make drip feed with this controller or i will have to buy new RAM? Thanks!

Hi, Software level 3 on 850 not sure on 880 but it is an option so you will need to contact Siemens and pay to have it activated.

So what should i do next, how to make drip feed connection or how can Siemens activate that option? I use DNC server and that program is capable of drip feed connection. Thank You!

Pee Ell Sea Posts: 672 Rating: (57)	Hi, Ring up your local Siemens office and speak to somebody in Machine Tool Sales. It is only a machine data bit and so they may give you the information over the phone to try it first to see if it works. They may even be generous as it is old control and just let you use it for free.

shejanov Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	i found how to change bits on SINUMERIK 880M and now 'file transfer' appeared at 'data in out' menu. Is that it? When i trie to open it nothing happens.

Pee Ell Sea Posts: 672 Rating: (57)	Hi, Sorry but I think file transfer is a crude way to load files from a central server. The Siemens terminology for drip feed is Execution from External which is what you will be looking for. Try a few more bits it might appear.

Kalpesh Patel Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	have you resolve this issue ,because i am facing same problem ,but i read that 880 version 6 has this option and it must be purchase from siemens ,and price is around 2,600 euro for this software ,i also need this option because i want to make prg.on five axis machine and programme is 1 mb in size and i have limited memory of 128 kb ,and i am unlucky because my software version is 3 and if i want to upgrade it will cost me very big amount as i received email from siemens germany....but if you resolve your issue please tell me any idea so i can solve my problem

Pee Ell Sea Posts: 672 Rating: (57)	Hi, Processing from external storage on 880 is 5015 bit 4. Shoudn't really give out option bits but I doubt Siemens have any means to charge for it any more. Pee
