Hello shish; I do not consider myself an expert with DIGSI software and Siprotec relays, but I have established communications with these relays over Profibus-DP in a few projects, so let's see if I can provide some answers: 1. The external protocol port (for Modbus, Profibus-DP, Profinet, IEC60870-5-103...) is located at the back of the relay (inside the cabinet) and has markings on it that will help you to determine the type of network it is enabled with. Sometimes the name of the protocol is available (Profibus-DP for example), sometimes only the physical layer (RS-485, used for Modbus or Profibus-DP). The display on the relay will allow you to see what protocol (if any) has be configured, along with the node address and the selected mapping. Configuration of the network protocol is done through DIGSI software. 2. The programming port for the relay is on the front of the unit, a Sub-D 9-pin connector, uses RS-232 (I am not sure if the cable is standard or Null-Modem) and uses a proprietary protocol associated to DIGSI software. 3. Siemens techs would come for the commissioning of these relays, and I have seen them use upload and download functions with DIGSI software and the programming port. Never done it myself, check for details in the DIGSI manual (see below). 4. Mappings are standard telegrams prepared for each type of relay, There are only a few mappings available for each relay model, and they are different for each relay model, You need to select the specific mapping you will use (andthis is how you determineon the number of bytes exchanged with the DP master, and the specific values that will be transfered to/from the CPU) along with the network protocol and the bus address for the relay. For more information, you will find a link to the DIGSI 4 software manual here: Download the SIPROTEC System Manual 7SJ61 - Multifunction Protection Relay - Siemens |

Hello Daniel Chartier , I communicated SIPROTECH 7SJ61 relay with S7-400 dp master system & successfully done. Also took screen shot of hardware configuration. It may help for communication established. This may help for hardware configuration in PLC. B/R Rama/Tata AttachmentSIPROTEC.pdf (447 Downloads) |
