Siwarex U end-user interface help

Wino Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	I am on a site that has a dual channel Siwarex U with two load cells attached. Siwarex U part number is7MH4601-1BA01 installed in an S7-300 rack. I can't make out the numbers, but it looks like an S7-315-2DP. There are several such modules installed and working correctly. My problem is that one of the modules is readingthe weight of an empty tank, and I need to set this readout to zero. I have Simatic Manager S7, but I'm not really supposed to touch the software if I can help it. I've read about Siwatool on the Siemens site, but I can't figure out which part number/version I would need for my situation. I'm fine with hooking up an RS-232 if need be, and I saw the thread which has the manuals for both RS232 and TTY connectivity without Siwatool, but I didn't download or read the manuals. If these will do the trick, then I'll grab, read, and go with that. Is there a way to zero the load cells from the Siwarex U with what I've got (Simatic Manager without modifying the programor RS-232 cable without Siwatool)? OR Do I need to get Siwatool (and which version/part number should I order)? OR Do I need to go into the program and zero it there? Any direction, manuals, help, would be appreciated. Thanks, Wino

Thanks, Wino Hi Wino, To Make the Zero the Scale your Can do it from the S7 Progarm also, if the Related Logic is available in the PLC, or you can used the Siwatool via RS232 cable, Here is the Link for the Siwatool Demo Software (But I was never try with Demo Software). & here is the Step How to Do the SIWAREX U calibraation & Which tool you required. in Siwatool you will Find the how to Zero the Scale, & can you tell me one thing it is running Privously Without problem, after what instance you have to required to Zero the weight Scale & the Weighing is Distrube by some one? is in the Tank is fully empty?

Wino Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	No, the system has never functioned. All of the tanks are empty. The people who did the commissioning missed calibrating one of the tanks, so it reads actual (empty) tank weight. This is a new build that is already out of warranty, so the onsite personnel are tasked with setting up anything they can set up. The demo tool allows one to read, but not write. We are in the process of ordering the part number (Siwatool U) you have given me. Thank you very much for the "how-to" link and the part numbers inside the link. Wino

I have now had a chance to read the Siwatool sensor calibration procedure in a previous reply and check out the demo version of Siwatool. I cannot follow thecalibration procedure, because I cannot "load" my load cells. I needonly toZERO my sensors. I need to do this WITHOUT using simatic manager and step 7, if possible.What I need is to take a reading that is now 50K+ lbs, and make it read "zero" for empty, without changing the installed S7 program.50K is the weight of my empty tanks. Will the following work, using Siwatool U? I have many identical sensors, also with empty tanks, that most probably are set up (uV/V, etc.) correctly. I plan to receive all data from a "good" sensor via Rs232 connected to the Siwarex U port, and save it. Using this saved data, I plan to do ONLY the zero setpoint selection (I forget the exact wording from the procedure) and then send all this data to the uncalibrated sensor/Siwarex U channel via RS232. Will this work, and give me a good "approximate" calibration (assuming the calibration on a nearly-identical sensor is correct)? If I can do the above paragraph: In a few more weeks, the tanks will be loaded. Can I, at that time, do JUST the setpoint setting and leave the zero setting where it is (again, using saved data)? This is not necessary, but it would be good to get a more accurate weight reading when "not empty." * So, can I set zero now,then set XX level later, using the "saved data" from a good sensor/siwarex u channel as a base point? * Alternately, can I just set zero now? * The last page of thecalibration procedurehas one going in to S7 to do some programming. I'll admit I just skimmed this section of the procedure. I was under the impression I could use Siwatool to calibrate the Siwarex U/Load cell. The manufacturer will not allow changes to his program, so doing any downloads/changes in the program are not really feasible without calling in the OEM to do them.The OEMmanual requires us to calibrate the sensors periodically, but does not give a procedure (hence this thread). If I have to scale and offset in the S7 program, then I can't use Siwatool, and I'll have to have the program itself changed by the manufacturer to "calibrate" the sensor. I was of the understanding that Siwatool would be able to "calibrate" and zero the sensor without access to the S7 program blocks. Am I wrong? In short, I need to set zero with empty tanks, then change the setting later for full or partially full tanks, if I can. This system has NEVER been used, and commissioning was "completed" over two years ago, so we're now on our own. I'm just not understanding what's possible or not with my setup. Again: 315-2DP with Siwarex U dual channel. I need to zero the sensor. * Can I zero the sensors with Siwatool U ONLY, NOT load the sensors (add weight) after the zeroing, and NOT change the S7 programming blocks? *** Thanks for any clarifications, Wino

With that Siwatool Demo Software, it is only possible to read the parameters and the error messages from the Siwarex U module to Siwatool, but you can not send commands (e.g. the “Zeroing” command) to the Siwarex U module! The “normal” Siwatool Version has the order number: 7MH4950-1AK01. The calibration, mentioned from Ammy, will not help you to do a zeroing. (I hope Ammy can excuse me once again!) For zeroing, you have only to click once to button for zeroing into Siwatool. A calibration is not necessary. You are right: You can zero the sensors only with Siwatool U, if the tank is empty and you don’t need to change the S7 programming blocks. Without his help, I would not have found the demo version, and I would not have been able to read the calibration procedure. I will continue with my plans to zero the sensors using the "real" version of Siwatool U when it and the cable arrive, then stop my calibration until I get full tanks. At that time, I can set my "high end" set point, as well, and my tanks will read more closely than they would have read without Siwatool U.
