So I'm using TIA Portal V15, and have WinCC Runtime Advanced installed and running on a Windows 7 Embedded PC (WES7).

I have checked both the "use screen keyboard" under Keyboard, and "Start Sm@rtserver" under Services, in the Runtime settings.

The onscreen keyboard works fine and pops up, just so long as I'm not remotely accessing the WinCC Advanced computer using a VNC viewer on my PC.

As soon as there's a VNC connection, the WinCC onscreen keyboard stops popping up when locally pressing for example a numeric IO Field. This computer doesn't have a keyboard, only a touchscreen, so the operator then cannot enter any values anymore. I have to disconnect from the Sm@rtserver vnc session, and then magically the keyboard appears again for the local operator after pressing another entry field.

I've also noticed that after connecting, that the PC with the WinCC Advanced Runtime switches to "Basic" rendering mode (instead of Aero Glass or whatever it's called). That's also annoying.

How do I get WinCC Advanced's On Screen Keyboard (OSK) to stay functional while being connected with a VNC viewer to Sm@rtserver?

Just a bump on this issue to see if it's been solved.

I have two TP2200 soft comfort panels on my site. When I remote in to them using Sm@rtclient the onscreen keyboard no longer appears. This means the operator who is physically at the HMI has no method of entering numbers without plugging in a physical keyboard.

Is there a way to stop Sm@rtclient from disabling the on screen keyboard? I've been through the menus and have enabled the keyboard but still no joy
