I trying to copy all values from a datablock with an array of type udt via a hmi script to a csv file.

The basic scipt works fine, there is only one problem: when the stript is in the fourth loop it doesn't get any values back from the smart tags. Is this a known problem? A simplified version of the script looks like:

for loopNr = 1 to 10
  val1 = SmartTags("log_" & loopNr & ".logValue1")
  val2 = SmartTags("log_" & loopNr & ".logValue2")
next

I made HMI tags with for each udt in the datablock. The HMI tag is called "log_1" and "log_2" etc.. I'm thinking maybe the tags are not refreshed/loaded properly when used in a for loop? (the DB in the PLC is filled with 10 udts and online visible)

What is the best way to achieve my initial goal? (Without copying it line for line...)

If do it the stupid way (Not in a for loop but just typing all tags) Like this:

val1 = SmartTags("log_1.logValue1")
val2 = SmartTags("log_2.logValue1")

Then it operates correct. So it has something to do with the loop...

So I found something. The tags that are dynamically formed are not updated. But they do work if I make a separate script where the smarttag name is fully written. (Eventhough that script will never run!)

I checked the HMI tag update parameters, but couldn't find a parameter that fixed it.

So as a result the program with the loop has no use this way... And for now I'm left with typing out de copy line by line for each element in the udt... (There must be a better way....)

I tried your loop and it worked fine for me. My guess is there must be an addressing issue in Tags or DB. Please confirm and share if possible. We may be able to debug better then.

There is no addressing error. The tags work fine, but they don't get updated if I only use them in the script. They do work when the tag name is a fixed string in the script. Like:

SmartTags("log_1.testvalue1")

But if the string is only formed via a formula/expression then the tags are not updated.

But here is the catch if I do this:

SmartTags("log_1.testvalue1")

LoopNr = 1

SmartTags("log_" & LoopNr & ".testvalue1")

It does work. I guess the first line triggers the update of the tag.

My guess is that WinCC, for the sake of performance, only updates tags that are used. And I think Wincc doesn't understand a smarttag name which is formed at runtime with the script. I found more people with the same issue and haven't seen a solution which works for me.

I noticed something now using S7315-2DP and WinCC TIA V13 SP1:

• If I generate an internal tag dynamically and write value to it then it does the job.
• If I generate an internal tag dynamically and read value from it then it does the job.
• If I generate an external tag dynamically and write value to it then it does the job.
• If I generate an external tag dynamically and read value from it then it fails.

I configured TP1200 Comfort and connected its simulation with the PLC via PC Adapter(MPI).

Perhaps the experts can confirm and explain??

I have experienced the exact same problem...

Tags that have been defined statically can be written dynamically. Tags that not have been defined statically first generate an error upon writing dynamically. "Error no tag 'Recept.arrRecept[3].rQuantity1' in script <test> in line ..

The script stops with error on arr place 3.

I'm working with V14SP1

hier you find the simple script that i'm using.

adding 'SmartTags("Recept.arrRecept[3].rQuantity1") = 104 will move the problem to arr place 4

You should set the "Acquisition Mode" to "Cyclic continiuous" for each tag you want to use in this way.

You can find this in the HMI Tag Table Tag->Properties->Settings-> Acquisition Mode.

You are correct that if a tag is not used in a screen it does not update. And if you are looking it up dynamically, WinCC has no way of knowing this tag is being used or not.
