Dear Kschoefs , some vendors are claiming supporting the Modbus RTU protocol but they do not follow the standard. The Problem is not at theSIMATIC, it's at the Socomec. However, unfortunate that will not solve your problem. There might be devices/gateways supporting reading 5xxxxx registers, maybe somebody here knows about. I would sendSocomec an emailregarding the Modbus RTU standard and how to read their values. They should take it even back. Good luck! |

Hello Kschoefs; As TIBI stated, Modbus (and its very close cousin JBus) are not enforced by an international standard, so sometimes the manufacturers take liberties that cause problems for us. But if you open the Countis E3x user manual, that you can find here: http://www.socomec.be/documentation-countis-e30-31-32-33_en.html you can find this important information, asattached in the next picture. Modbus function 03 is used for reading the E34, so if your Modbus master functions allow it, you can specify this function 03 with the offset of the address, so the 5xxxxx prefix will not matter. I mean that if you need to read register 500126 for example, you should be able to specify using Modbus function 03 and the offset address 126, and the E34 should reply with the values in that register. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |
