fritz Diamond Member Joined: 10/7/2005 Last visit: 1/17/2025 Posts: 3030 Rating: (1058)	Hello Thodoris I don't think that the S7-1200 Solar tracking FB is availabel as a free download and suggest you get in touch with your local Siemens office to find out if so (or howyou'llneed to pay for it if it ispurchaseable). You'll find the general info about it including a brochure at THIS link. Having said that, the free of charge Step7 OSCAT library (see www.oscat.de) also contains a Solar tracking Algorithm which may be useful for your application. Since the Blocks are programmed in (Step7 V5.x) SCL, you'd need the lastest S7-1200 firmware and TIA Portal version(V11 SP2) and would have to convert the Block over to it, but it may be worth the effort. I hope this helps

Thodoris Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	Dear fritz Thank you for your help. I will ask my local Siemens partner for Solar function block of s7-1200. I have downloaded the Step7 OSCAT library but i dont know how to insert it at Step7 Basic V11 SP2 so that i can you it. Can you help me to do that? Thank you!

The solar PLC controller directs on-axis sun tracking, following the sun throughout the day. The sun tracker platform runs the NREL Solar Position Algorithm SPA to compute the sun angles or solar coordinates of the sun vector as the solar azimuth angle and the solar zenith angle or the solar elevation angle to follow the sun. This automatic positioner or automatic positioning solar tracking system on the solar tracker was designed for adish stirling system where a parabolic dish solar reflector harness sunlight in a sense acting as a type of free energy device or concentrated solar power generator. For my PhD research project, we use the same Siemens Simatic S7-1200 solar function block in the development of a micro combined heat and power plant with microgridstorage and layered smartgrid control strategies for off-grid solar supply to island villages and rural villages. http://www.solar-conference.eu/scientific_program/ Attachment image.jpg (185 Downloads)
