Dear experts, Iam unable to get mySimatic S7 PC Adaptor to work (PN: 6ES7 972-0CB20-0XA0). I'vesearched and read many helpfull threads but still I'm notable to get the PC Adaptor toattach in the virtual XP Mode on my PC. This could be due to my PC only having USB 3.0 ports asI have seen several references to XP Mode and USB 3.0 issues, although I'm unsure if this is still relavent. I'll attempt to give you as much detail as possible to aid in advising me as I'vetried and failed with everything so far.. PC is a Dell Precision M4800 (USB 3.0 ports only). Operating system is Windows 7Ultimated 64bit inc SP1. XP mode is installed due to the need to run various programming software. Simatic Manager V5.5is installed in the XP Mode as it would not inastll in windows 7. WinCC Flexible 2008 is also installed within the XP Mode virtual system. The laptop is supplied by corporate and I am unable to change it, I am also forced to use XP Modedue toadhering to licensing laws. I've read that VM Ware might offer a possible solution asthere may be a way touse the XP Mode image within VM Ware. To me this sounds convoluted as I'd be running one virtual environment within another virtual environment which just sounds very messy. I've treid to disablethe USB3.0 host controller to revert the ports to USB 2.0but this just disabled theUSB ports completely. My understanding is that the problem is caused by my laptop having USB 3.0 and XP mode and the PC adaptor only workingon USB 2.0 ports. I've attached a screenshot, as you can see, the adaptor is not being recognised in Win 7 and so I cannot attach it within XPMode. HoweverI have found a couple of resources that suggest that other people have got this to work... http://www.plctalk.net/qanda/archive/index.php/t-63321.html But unfortuanetly I can not. Maybe these other users have USB 2.0 ports? MaybeI am just doing something wrong? Is there anyone out there that can offer a solution or a possible way forward? Kind regards, RandomCoder |
