Spindle RPM display?

PISCEAN 2010 Diamond Expert Joined: 4/23/2010 Last visit: 11/23/2024 Posts: 8092 Rating: (880)	Hello Experts, On one of the lathe, following is the automation configuration equipped. 2 nos cross axes i.e. X & U cross axes - Motor encoder feedback. Z carriage axis, Motor encoder as well as external encoder with rack & pinion drive feedback system. CNC controller802D PL Main Chuck - 183 Kw Spindle DC motor & GE make spindle drive. No encoder feedback for actual spindle RPM. Main Chuck gear box has got 2 gear stage selection I= 1-15 RPM; Stage II = 15-60RPM. Limit switch inputs are wired up to PLC for feedback of gear stage selection. Now with this configuration can I display the spindle/ main chuck actual RPM with selected gear stage on screen i.e. without independent/external encoder fitted on chuck shaft? Thanks in advance. What we want is, to display spindle RPM on HMI screen on in case no any external encoder is used. Hope now the point is quite clear. Regards,DEEP.

This lathe no external encoder is fitted on chuck shaft & is with DC motor. How the spindle RPM & selected gear stage is displayed? Can you help out? Regards, DEEP. If V38022000.0 is ON ,the Display in the screen will be 1^st Gear V38022000.1 is ON ,the Display in the screen will be for 2^nd GearV38022000.0 & V38022000.1 ON ,the Display in the screen will be 3^rd gear. And you have Enable 35000 $MA_SPIND_ASSIGN_TO_MACHAX[AX3]=1 35010 $MA_GEAR_STEP_CHANGE_ENABLE[AX3]=1 So you can just try it By High the V Signal in your PLC.And Check But Without External encoder Actual RPM cannot be Display. Can you tell what is the Full RPM in the Machine , where you have taken the Photo.

The RPM in the Screen will display the Setpoint RPM according to the Percentage of Spindle Speed. For Eg: If you program 100 RPM and speed overide is 120% , then in the Display you can find 120RPM.
