SQL and DB export

electronixm Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	Hello!!! I want to make a project that evolves working with SQL data base's. I have for example a several of temperature sensors that generate a graphic chart in WINCC. So i want to take the information from the SQL DB's and with a PHP script display this information in a web browser. I want to know where and haw the SQL saves the information for the Charts and the alarms, is there a specific name for the DB or It is possible to define one.

To access WinCC DB from external application, you will need the following package

6AV6371-1DR06-2AX0

WINCC/CONNECTIVITY PACK V6.2 SP2, OPTION FOR WINCC V6.2 SP2, AND SIMATIC PCS7 V7.0 SP1, RUNTIME-SW, SINGLE LICENSE

Danielle Posts: 1275 Rating: (123)	Hi, To complemment what JMJ said: any access by any third party software to WinCC's database requires an additional license. You should check out the ConnectivityPack and IndustrialDataBridge options if you want to export data... However, I noticed you want to display the data in a web browser.. for this you should check the DataMonitor and WebNavigator options. WebNavigator allows the user to control and view the same .pdl files you have in your application, so the WinCC trend controls you already have in your screens could be easily used. As I said, it also allows remote controlling... the DataMonitor option doesn't allow this, so it's cheaper and works if you only need to view the data remotely.. Best regards, Danielle

I understand that if i want to get data from SQL database i must use some OPC server provided by Siemens. i need in my project to archive the charts and the alarms for a long time, the client needs to view for example what happened last yer at a specific date and time. So i need to know what limitetions i have with the WINCC chart. With DataMonitor i have this possibility to view data from the WINCC DB in chart format and can i navigate in this chart? Thank you for the help!!! (my English is not perfect, hope i did not made to many mistakes )

Danielle Posts: 1275 Rating: (123)	Hi, WinCC has all the OPC functionallities you need, but you need to get the licenses to be allowed to use some... To archive for a long perio all you need to have in mind the the database size... if that's not a problem, you'll be alright... With WebNavigator or DataMonitor the remote user can see the exact same screens the operator uses, so he can use the same Trend Controls... and Siemens native Trend Controls allow you to filter the data like you want. These are some funcions which can be easily integrated: Bar diagram, pie chart, trend curve display Process value table and statistics functions for the process values Alarms, hit list for alarms Message text display for individual message texts, message display, selection list of created reports Links to internal and external pages Display of graphics in jpg format Visualization of the WinCC process screens without installation download The database remains on the server (OS server or stand-alone), and the web clients request the information as they need it, both for the history and online idata. You can configure security rights, select different views and profiles per users, etc... For WinCC v7 Internet Explorer 7 is supported, and you can use Windows Vista for the server... The license is stored on the server, and the remote clients can access the data without installation download... basically you can access the data from any PC with IE as long as you have the appropriate rights, without having to install WinCC in it. For the license you need to count the number of simultenous clients (how many clients will access at the same time).
