srvalg_ldf error file at the end of the download process

LDF is used by SQL Server for database access control. Did you try to download again, and did it fail again? Also, did you try rebooting the server and downloading again? Sometimes I find executing Reset_WinCC.vbs before attempting a download will help - when you close WinCC explorer, it will send the close message to the database (and the WM_CLOSE message to all open application windows), but that does not guarantee they will always close. Reset_WinCC takes care of that.

Silver Member Joined: 8/10/2006 Last visit: 3/15/2023 Posts: 297 Rating: (29)	It's an issue inside SQL Server - something created a process and opened a job on the database (thus placing a use "lock" on the file). Whatever happened, it didn't close gracefully, and so did not release the lock tag. If it happens infrequently but more than once, it's no big deal. If it happens regularly, it can be surmised that something in your project is creating a problem. That is the deductive reasoning I use, but not necessarily accurate. There are ways to investigate into it through SQL Server enterprise manager, but if you don't know SQL Server very well, it's best left to watching over someone's shoulder as they do it. Even still, there are other things you can do, but a reboot should fix it. If you are still not able to complete it after a reboot, you can rename the directory of your existing server project and re-download. (renaming saves the existing project in case you wanted any of the archive data). When you re-download, it will create a new directory of the old name and put the project there.
