Standard Function Block Versions

Hi All, Does anyone know if it is possible to replace a standard Simatic function block used in my program from a German written one (time stamp 1996) with the English one currently in my system library (time stamp 2001)?

The block is; from; libraries > SIMATIC_NET_CP > CP 300 > FB2 and I would like to replace to be able to use the English text in the DB assigned to it but they seem different.

I think you shall look for the version of FB2 in both libraries. They shall have changed the version of FB2 if they added any changes, but if they have the same version then you can replace them, you will find it in the object properties of FB2 -> General - Part 2

But if I were you I won't proceed in this action before contacting siemens support for more confirmation

agree with Navnag, in my experience (not NET library but CP_PtP) different version numbers aren't compatible, maybe better explained are prepared to CP cards firmware version. If I have old version CP340 RS-232 card, simply new FB block version f.ex. 1.2 cant use, must select v1.0. About language I think isn't problem, so probably change same version of blocks (but with different language) can be made.

INs = REQ, ID

OUTs = NDR, ERROR, STATUS

IN_OUTs = VENDOR, MODEL, REVISION

They look completely incompatible to me but I cannot find a similar block from the libraries? Maybe the German and English libraries are or were different back then?

 FB_P_RCV  is a part of the CP_PtP Library.  ( The latest version that I have is V2.0 ).
However I am not sure if it will be compatible with old Version of CP340.

but if I look to that Simatic NET library -> CP340, that FB2 block is not same as for CP340 from PtP library. Look inside that block, I see is different. You need use that from PtP library, or something not understand?
