But I can not see why I get the values ? 1) Incoming error, I get status tag= 65537 2) Outgoing error without acknowledged status tag = 65536 3) Acknowledged error (but still active), status tag = 1 Can you help me explain why I get the numbers ? K!ke Posts: 1299 Rating: (136)	Hello, you have to interpret the single bits, not the whole "number" in this case. So 65537 means bit 0 and 16 are set. 65536 means only bit 16 is set and 1 means only bit 1 is set As they explain in manual, if you choose a UDINT bits 0-15 would be for status and bits 16-31 for acknowledgment. In your case bit 16 is the acknowledgement bit and bit 0 is the status bit. if you define another alarm you can use the same tag and choose the bits 1 and 17and so on... So first case (65537) the error occurs (that means bit 0 will be set) and - of course - is not yet acknowledged (therefor bit 16 will be set) If the error's outgoing bit 0 will be reset, bit 16 is still active so you get 65536 If the error still exists (bit 0 remains 1) and the error is acknowledged bit 16 will be reset and you get 1 Best regards K!ke

Can I use the same bit in the status/acknowledge word for all alarms ?

K!ke Posts: 1299 Rating: (136)	Technically it's possible to use the same bit fordifferent classes. But I wouldn't recommend you to do so, because it causes problems. E.g. alarmof class 1 comes and sets bits 0. While alarm is pending, another alarm (class 2) comes. first bit 0 remains set. but now if only one of these alarms is outgoing, bit 0 will be reset though there is another alarm. so you won't get the correct status information. the set and reset of the bits works fine for more alarms in one class, but it doesn't if you define the same bit for different classes.
