Anton Sherstyuk Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	Good evening! I'm trying to install STEP 5 on my laptop and get the following error (screenshot attached). Operating system is Windows XP SP3. Anton Sherstyuk Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	I read all the topics on the forum about problems with the installation of STEP 5, but have not found exactly this error. In addition to the link you gave is located subject with the problem at startup STEP 5 on XP SP3, but I can not even install it.

Azteke0110 Posts: 376 Rating: (57)	Hello Anton, I think also. The cause for the problem can be the configuration Win XP+SP3 and STEP 5 V7.23. STEP 5 V7.23 is only released for Windows XP Professional + SP1 and Windows XP Professional + SP2. So please uninstall SP3 and try again with installation of Step 5. Another cause is not currently known to me.My recommendation for you. If you need. The Hotfix 1 for STEP 5 V7.23 is available. MM1234 Posts: 270 Rating: (53)	Haha, then I might have missunderstood the "Earlier Step5" which I took for as in earlier version, not earlier in time. No matter if the error is in installation or starting, what I ment was to try look into the supported versions, with the downgrade to SP2 the installation should work.

Anton Sherstyuk Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	I can not uninstall SP3, it was not installed separately and have been integrated into the installation image Windows OEM. Once again I say, this bunch Step5 + WinXPSP3 previously worked.

MM1234 Posts: 270 Rating: (53)	Gucci ... If you need. The Hotfix 1 for STEP 5 V7.23 is available. I don't think you can hotfix something you haven't installed yet? Anyway, if you look at the error as it is, obviously the problem was with adding something from the file mentioned into registers. You could try to add that manualy and see if the installation could go on, but that would depend if the installer is smart or not and it might not even make it run through. Another question is if there is not some other obstruction like lacking rights to write into registers from the current user, it's really tough to say with registers... .)) Anyway, the downgrade should work and if not, then you can simply contact the Technical Support of Siemens and they should be obliged to solve your problem if you bought the program?

Yes, inst32.reg - this is a registry file windows, Manually adding the information from it proceeds normally, but it does not protect against cancellation of the installation. P.S. I apologize for the inaccuracy of language, I'm from Ukraine Administrator rights are okay, it has been tested primarily, the computer has one administrator account.

MM1234 Posts: 270 Rating: (53)	Well that's tough luck, but not surprising, old installers weren't really all that sophisticated. I found one match on google regarding your topic, however, it's in Chinese and our awesome supersmart proxy doesn't let me use the translate page link, so perhaps if it would work for you, maybe you could find something useful there. Otherwise, I am thinking, but it's really hard to say, you probably need to get answer from someone who encountered this particular error, because if you call on technical support, they will tell you to use SP1/2 most likely...
