STEP 5 program online monitoring

Hello friends,

I am using SIMATIC S5-95u PLC. I would like to know how can I monitor the program and forcefully set outputs high? As we make variable table and modify value forcefully in STEP7 and can easily monitor the program online.  What are the steps for same job in STEP5? Thanks

Which software do you intend using?
If you would rather wish to use Windows based software, I suggest you search the internet for other (non Siemens) solutions. If you are comfortable with DOS program and have Step5 software.. please let the guys know which version you have.

I have windows XP and using STEP5 /ST Version 7.14.

You may do the update Step5 V 7.23, some bugfixes for 135U was done there.

OK, back to Topic:
Going online:

- First connect the PLC with correct cable to correct TTY - port of PG.

- Start Step5

- Push F4 button to go to project setting screen

- Push F3 button to Switch over to ONLINE mode.
After few seconds, ONLINE must appear without any error message!

- Press ENTER or INSERT to accept and go back to main screen  or

- Push ESC to go back to main screen

- Push Shift+F6 and select the block that you like to monitoring online.

- Push Shift+F8 to control variables

- Push Shift+F5 to control output

I did as you directed. I selected the block (PB001) which I would like to monitor, you said press "shift+F8" then. But Shift+F8 opens help. you mentioned about control variable and control output but nothing appears like so.

Please read my post more careful.

Shift+F8 is valid im Main Screen, not in the Block Screen.

Consider also:

Sometimes it is necessary to Switch OFF the NUMLOCK and using the numeric pad.
