Step by step procedure of networking after project preparation...

All PC Stations use CP 5613 card....Profibus cabling is ready with terminators ON at ends (Where only one cable is there)....As the Two CPU's are fresh how do I download their respective programs to the PLC's....I have a doubt and want to clarify it: I need a Laptop and I would connect to each PLC independently and then download its program....But I wonder does this work (Because of MPI/DP port is configured as DP)?? As I am confused How to start and setup the network...I request you all to guide if there is any step by step procedure to this. Thanking You Attachment network.JPG (640 Downloads)

J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Hello, I am sorry but I fear nobody will provide a step by step solution for every possible configuration. What I would say is that the most important thing for your PC / PLC Network would be to set the Bus parameter set to Standard or to DP / FMS Universal. In such a situation you can also add another Laptop that is not configured and you can download the Configuration, of the PC is switched of, I would not recommend to connect any PC or PLC while this PLC is already on. Another thing to care about is to use Baud rates up to 1.5 Mbit but not higher, because than you can use Tap lines too. Well this is whatI would care about. Best regards J_Bell

I want to clarify my basics and want to ensure that my understanding is correct...Below are my steps and kindly correct me if wrong. 1. Profibus cabling done (terminators ON at ends).....connectors are at PLC 1, PLC 2, PC station-1, PC station-2 and PC station-3 ends....But are not connected to CPU and CP5613 respectively.... 2. Now connect the connector to PLC 1 and to PC-station-1 respectively. 3. Open station configurator in PC Station-1 ---> import station --> import PC station-1 xdb file.. 4.From PC station-1 open simatic manager (with PG/PC interface setting done to PC internal)....download PLC 1 5. After the above step PLC 1 node address would become as programmed. 6. Remove connector from PLC 1 and connect connector to PLC 2. 7. From PC station-1 open simatic manager (with PG/PC interface setting done to PC internal)....download PLC 2 8. After the above step PLC2 node address would become as programmed. now PLC's are networked to PC station-1.....Am I correct?? Then I would import respective stations in respective PC stations....Am I done??

Point 1, no Problem, even so you should have both ends supported with Terminators that are supplied with power... but no big deal. Point 2, OK Point 3, Why do you use XDB Files? You can download, if thePLC is not set as DP yet via MPI on the MPI/DP Interface the DP Interface is not available until the System is not loaded the first time, so if you use theCP 5613 MPI Interface in the PG/PC interface settings you can downloadmuch easier. Point 4, OK, if you use the CP 5613 MPI Interface Point 5, OK Point 6, OK Point 7, OK, if you use the CP 5613 MPI Interface Point 8, OK Now the Hardware Configuration of both PLCs are loaded. Now the MPI Interface of the CPU is set to DP and is no longer available over the MPI Interface. In this situation you have to load the Configuration of the PC over PC Internal to the PC, with the Component Configurator set to the Configuration of your System, see HW Config of your PC Station. Now you can start communicating with the PC 1. If you want to install the Communication to the other two PCs you just copy the Project to them and download the Configuration to each system... no need to load anything from the PLCs again, everything is stored in the Project already. I am having OPC server and CP5613 in hardware configuration of each PC Station....so I thought if I import station xdb file it would be easy for me....Also I dont know that DP Interface is not available until the System is not loaded the first time...So I would use CP 5613 MPI Interface in the PG/PC interface settings and then proceed for downloading...After every thing gets finished I would change back to PC Internal...Am I correct?
