I have Siemens Simatic S7-1200, Stepper Motor Nema 23 Planetary Geared (2,8A) -> https://www.omc-stepperonline.com/geared-stepper-motor/nema-23-stepper-motor-bipolar-l56mm-w-gear-raio-471-planetary-gearbox-23hs22-2804s-pg47.html My Question is: Can I drive Stepper Motor directly with Simatic S7-1200? Otherwise: What Stepper Motor Driver will be the best choise for controlling my Stepper Motor? |

Are you suggesting powering the stepper motor from a PLC output? Or, are you suggesting simply that the control signals that tell the stepper to move come from a PLC output? You need a Stepper Motor Driver / Controller between the PLC PTO output and the motor. Google can help you find one that matches the motor requirements.

1. Is it possible to power and control the stepper motor directly from PLC S7-1200? 2. There are many of Stepper Motor Controler units on market. I'm not sure what is the best choise to use with S7-1200, thats why I'm asking here on forum. For Example, I found this stepper motor controller: This controller is powered by 24V, But I'm not sure if this is the best choise becouse control signals are 5V and I'm not sure if they are supposed to be used with PLC... I also found this controller from Siemens : SIMATIC FM 353 Stepper Drive: Link: https://cache.industry.siemens.com/dl/files/357/2106357/att_51481/v1/FM353_0808_b.pdf But datasheet only tells that driver can be used with S7 300 , so I'm not sure if it can be used with S7 1200... What would be the easyiest way of controlling my stepper motor?

Thank You for this information! It really helps. How can I know if my PLC has Yang or Yin outputs and what is the difference, where to use each of them? |
