String into 2 DINT's

mach390 Posts: 9 Rating: (0)	Hello, I am new to the Siemens world, but I need to convert a STRINGthats stored in a Data Blockinto two DINT's. I have read some of the other threads on converting stings, but I have not had any luck. I tried using a FC37, but when I put the DB address in, it says that it is not valid. The string I am looking at will have 10 digits (1234567890) and I need to split that into two DINT (the first 5 digits into one and the second five into another). Any help on this would be appreciated, thanks.

So give the DB a symbol name and then you can use it with FC37, like Data.Test Then your string '1234567890' will be in a DINT with value: 1234567890 Best regards, Wizard

mach390 Posts: 9 Rating: (0)	FC37 took the string address after Iclosed the blocks and reopened them,thank you. What would you use to split the string? I tried using a FC26 (Middle Part of String) where I entered5 intoLwhich is how many charecters that it is looking at. But I am not sure about the P. I know the charecters start on the third byte in the string because the firstand second define the maximum and actual length of the string. So I tried a 3, to start at the third byte, but it doesn't seem to be doing what I need it to do. I put a the input String at the IN on FC26,#String (temporary string)at the RET_VAL of FC26 and then the #String in FC37 with my DINT in the RET_VAL. Not sure what part is not working, but the DINT value doesn't change when a different string is entered.

mach390 Posts: 9 Rating: (0)	The value in my DINT just doesn't seem to be changing. No matter what I enter in my STRING on the HMI the RET_VAL in FC37 remains 327681. I have attached a screen shot of my code. Thanks again for the help. Attachment String.pdf (342 Downloads)
