Mr Khan Posts: 40 Rating: (0)	actually i need to follow this format given below "The data to the displays is sent in the following format. 2400 baud, 8 bit, no parity, 1 stop bit H,01,A,TEXTTEXT<CR> Total 16 characters are sent in one string Char #1 = Fixed 'H' Char #2 = comma Char #3 and #4 = 2 digit address of the display Char #5 = comma Char #6 = A for line 1 or B for line 2 Char #7 = comma Char #8 to #15 = 8 character text Char #16 = carraige return " kindly tell me that how to send these kind of string through PLC .

You are aware that the S7 string format has 2 bytes of additional data preceding the actual string data are you not? The first byte is the maximum length of the string, the second byte is the actual length of the string and the third byte onwards is the actual character data of the string. If you are just wanting to send the ASCII data, you will have to point the DBB value of the P_SND_RK call to the third byte.

Darius Platinum Member Joined: 9/28/2005 Last visit: 3/15/2025 Posts: 2957 Rating: (243)	Mr Khan @smiffy can you please send me any manual about string format ...in which we come to know that how to send a string to RS485 protocol Open Step-7, then open Help->Contents then open Index tab and write word 'STRING'. On the first occurence double click and it will open small nice windows with two choices. Then double click on 'Complex Data Types'.
