structured variables and its names

carahigo Member Joined: 8/23/2008 Last visit: 8/24/2022 Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	Hi, I got the following problem: I want to crate a variable who, in a grafcet, contains the minimun conditions to start a machine cycle. Thus I can declare a "IntStartCondition" as INT, and then every single bit in this integer may be a separate start condition (i.e. bit LSB -> "BoolCondition1", LSB+1 BoolCondition2, an so on). Later, i can process the var as a int to decide if the machine cycle starts, decode for HMI alarming, etc). But if I declare the INT, i can't give separate names to each bit within this INT, and vice-versa. I also tested UDT's, arrays, Structs, but got the same result. Does anyone know any way to do this in Step 7? Thanks in advance.

Dear carahigo, As I may understood your requirements, you want to have 16-bit memory area in CPU which can be bit-wise accessible (read and write access) and the whole 16 bit can be addressed as a WORD or INT for easier transfer to HMI.If my assumptions were right, so a memory word may help you to do the task.For example MW0 is set of 16 bits from M0.0 to M1.7 which can be accessed individually( with their own symbol) or as a whole. What i'm looking for is a way to acces a var as a INT by his symbolic name, and his bits by his symbolic name, too: UN E0.0 //E0.0 -> Emergency stop for example = IntAlarms_Bit0 // IntAlarms_Bit0 is db1.dbx0.0 ........................ ........................ ........................ L IntAlarms //IntVar is db1.dbw0 L 0 //Load constant >I // = M10.0 //if any alarm M10.0 = true. In fact it is possible to do with M memory area, as you said, but I did not succeed with data block memory. But for now, to do this with M memory is OK for me. Best Regards!!!!!
