stuxnet and Sicam Pas

They are done by different sectors in Siemens and they don't share any internal component. I don't know about PCS7, but for PAS there aren't anyknown problems with such kind of menaces. Wheredidyouget this information? Mike J

This malware affects on Microsoft Windows PCs with WinCC and PCS 7. On the other hand, according to SIPROTEC catalogue 2008, SICAM PAS CC is based on SIMATIC WinCC (page of cataluge that stated this is in attachment). so I have a question does this malware affect on SICAM PAS CC? Sicam PAS is responsible for communication, supervisionand logics, while Sicam PASCC is only the HMI. The information in the link you posted applies to Sicam PASCC, as it is based on Simatic WinCC, but not to Sicam PAS, which has nothing to do with Simatic. Mike J

In the operation of a substation, SICAM PAS is used for configuration purposes and as a powerful data concentrator. SICAM PAS CC serves as the process visualization system. above bold sentences are from Siemens website at below address and SICAM PAS catalogue. http://www.energy.siemens.com/hq/en/automation/power-transmission-distribution/substation-automation/sicam-pas/sicam-pas-cc.htm therefore in a Substation Automation System based on SICAM PAS, the HMI software is based on SICAM PAS CC and then SICAM PAS CC is based on SIMATIC WinCC. My purpose of the question is not to deny the abilities of SICAM PAS. I want to know about probable problems in advance. Best regards, Farzad

I'm not talking about qualities of Sicam, just that Sicam PAS is not based in Simatic at all. And for this reason the topic about trojans, which affects Simatic software, can be ignored for Sicam PAS. On a Substation Automation with Sicam PAS not always the HMI is Sicam PASCC. It could be Sicam 230 (HMI completely developed by former SAT, which is now Siemens) or other HMIs available in the marked with a suitable protocol. For this reason it is important to know exactly what you have. If you have Sicam PASCC, then you have to follow the same recomendation for Simatic. Mike J
