Supply S7-1200 and I/O Expansion

Kmessier123 Posts: 17 Rating: (2)	Hi guys, I have a S7-1200 (1214C DC/DC/RLY) and I want to add some expansions to it (DQ 16 x Relay - 6ES7 222-1HH32-0XB0). Do I need to connect the "L+" and "M" of the expansions to the 24VDC Power Supply or does the PLC supply the 24VDC to the expansion when connected? Thank KM

The PLC only provides the buss communication power via the module sliders connecting modules to each other and the PLC. Thanks! KM Hello, You should have a power supply and you can wire its output (+L) & (M) to some terminal blocks or fused Terminal Blocks and then make a voltage distribution to all expansion module. It's so simple. Please search for the data sheet of your expansion module and you will found there a wiring drawing which will help you. Hope this helps.

KM maximum supply of the 24VDC OUT of PLC is 300 mA (according the manual) So you may use your plc out put if your extension module not consume more than 300mA (but normally i use this plc 24V out put DI/DO simulation purpose only) its better if you provide external 24v supply to your extended module.
