Import-User-1 Posts: 3609 Rating: (29)	Importing a Technical Question of an User nic_c Dear Sir, I need to link SSV104 (15 pins) DTE ports to Normal RJ45 Ethernet. Can this 6GK5101-1BX00-2AA3 able to convert DTE signal to RJ45 and link up to a PC with normal ethernet / CP1613 ? Other than this 6GK5101-1BX00-2AA3 unit, any other's signal converter in the market can use for this application? Your immediate reply is highly appreciated. Thanks & Regards, nic

This function only works on the Linkup Port of the SSV104. To connect to the node over RJ45 you either use a Switch or you use a cross over cable. Best regards J_Bell

Can you send me the Wiring Configuration from D-Sub 15 pin to RJ45, or siemens selling any of this cable? If only works on Linkup Port of SSV104, is it i need to set the "LOCAL" to "REMOTE" ? If yes, after i try to set to "REMOTE" the other's DTE network will down. What is the best solution to connect SCALANCE X101-1AUI with no interruption of other's DTE? Regards, nic

J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Dear nic_c, I am sorry but you misunderstood some of my explanations. Let me try to explain some more. If you check your SSV 104 you see that you have 8 DTE Connectors.The function of theDTE Connectors is to interface to PCs,PLCs or the Link Up Connector ofanother SSV 104, but certainly not with RJ45. The signals on an DTE or MAU interface are not compatible to be used with RJ45. If you want to use a MAU Transceiver or the SCALANCE X101-1AUI you can NOT use the DTE Interface of the SSV 104, here you need the MAU Interface also called Link Up Port. Here you need to set the Port on Remote use. If you do not set the Hub to remote node the Link Up port will not work. The Hub will quit working if the Link Up Port is set to remote and the interfaced node is down, so if the SCALANCE X101-1AUI or the Network connected to the MAU Transceiver is down, the Hub will be down too. This is a reason why a Hub is not a Switch. I hope I could help a bit. Best regards J_Bell

I need to install a new SCADA PC far away from the control room, required to get all the PLC signal via Fiber Optic. My planned connection. SSV104 <---> SCALANCE X101-AUI <---> RJ45/FiberOptic === FiberOptic/RJ45 <---> SCADA PC Please find attached file for more detail. How can i make this work? I tried to use Transceiver Port and it makes other connection from DTE no connection when i set to "REMOTE" setting? How can i make everythings working including DTE ports and Transceiver Port? If so and the connected device was active I have no clue, but if there was nothing connected or the connected device was switched off the behavior is normal. Best regards J_Bell
