Dear Expert, Could you please confirm that analog cards (ET200M) do have surge protection/lightning protection ? |

Hi Take a look this thread: S7-300 & ET 200S I/O module max. surge voltage and have a look Appendix 12.3: SIMATIC S7-300 Automation System, Hardware and Installation ... |

Same question. Also we have a home network with 2 routers: one connected to the ISP and the second one connected by ethenet lines to the first and acting as a bridge to extend the wifi area. We recently had a lot of lightning in the area. After the storm one router went bonkers and never worked correctly and second was just plain dead. How can this setup be protected from lightning and surges? https://www.streamer-electric.com is there anybody who already worked with them? |

Hello Bonutbat; Surge protection at the level of the I/Os is very basic (see the attachment below). Normally it is the responsability of the electrical designer to provide fusing and surge protection between the field and the controller, in any well-planned project. Here are some basic isolation voltage values provided for S7-300 analog modules, from the S7-300 Module Data manual (analog modules section): https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/8859629 As you can see the potential differences between inputs varies from module to module, you have to evaluate the datasheet of every module you use in your project. The isolation test voltage used by Siemens is always 500 VDC. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |
