Hi!

TIA V15.1, Update 4, WinCC Professional: 

Problem: in RT, symbolic I/O field does not work any more! I have checked everything, but in RT it does not work. The drop down is empty, allthough tag has a proper value, and also a text list appears to be OK. I get only 1 line (in drop-down, 5 are programmed!), and *** instead of text. If I cllick there, I get a message "Encountered an improper argument".

I am working on a WINCC professinal project, which was (I assume) originally developped with TIA15.1, but "lower" update. Since I had to replace my development PC with new one, I also installed the latest updates (in january 2020). Now, If I want to make changes to this project, and when I test it, I see, that this thing (Symbolic I/O field) does not work any more.... .

Can anybody test this (simple Symbolic I/O field), on his own system, with TIA V15.1 Upd.4 and WInCC Professional?

i test the symbolic I/O field in my pc it's works no problem found, try to recompile the program

i am using tia 15.1 up 4, using wincc pro PC-based, i create internal tag with INT type and create text syombolic. and just link it up. and its works fine. Have you rebuild your program?

You are probably right.

I have tested this thing also on one of my virtual machines, where I have also Win10 Prof, but I do not allow updates for windows on this virtual machine. Windows build is 1809, and there it works OK.

On my "basic" machine, where I normally work, Windows biuld is 1909. Of course, if you check this combination with Compatibility tools, it is a no-go..... . (W10 prof build 1909 + WinccRT Prof V15.1).

I was waiting a little for a new uptade for TIA 15.1 (I have Upd 4), if this will fix this thing, but there are currently no new updates, since Upd 4...

I will probably try to reinstall TIA on my basic machine and see, what will happen. But, i need to find time for that.....

Hi!

The installation repair helped me.

During the repair process, you will see a warning « Some product components will not be repaired because they are already installed on the computer in a higher version», but you must still click the Repair button. After completion, the "symbolic I / o field" will work again.
