Symbols not available in OPC (but visible in Symbol File Configurator)

avra Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	I have sucessfully downloaded configuration with symbols to Simatic NET station. Browsing S7 400H PLC tags via OPC Scout works if using direct addressing, but not with symbols (which I need really badly). All I can see is \SYM: with red cross mark (as shown with big arrow in attached screenshot). Symbols are downloaded indeed since they show up in Symbol File Configurator. I have even tried to make new symbol file directly with Symbol File Configurator and add single test tag just to see if it can be done. The problem remains the same. I have also used another test machine (this one without CP1613 which is not OK for me since I need redundancy in S7 400H) and tried to make symbol table with single test tag and it WORKED! I have compared settings in Configuration Console and it is the same. What am I doing wrong? Can anyone please help me to see symbols in OPC Scout? avra Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	I have more data in a hope that someone will assist me... It seams that OPC clients can not browse because of OPC error 0x80070057 "Could not change browse position downward". That's what Matrikon OPC Explorer reported on attached screenshot when I tried browsing symbols as I already tried with OPC Scout (which didn't report anything and just didn't browse). Does this mean that I have to reinstall SimaticNET or something else? I have the same behaviour on both redundant servers. OPC browsing of symbols doesn't work on either of them. When the same version of Simatic Net was installed on a notebook, SYM folder appears using the same XDB!!! Take a look at the picture where you see in first plan OPC Scout in notebook and in the second plan another instance of OPC Scout, running on a WindowsXP Embedded with Sicam PAS. I have already used Sicam PAS and SimaticNET and OPC and it works fine. But something here is wrong! Mike J
