SYNC & FREEZE

hdhosseini Diamond Member Joined: 1/28/2009 Last visit: 4/22/2025 Posts: 6867 Rating: (1367)	Hi With the FREEZE command , we can freeze the inputs at the current status and changes on inputs don't have any effect on the logic (User program in CPU).With the SYNC command , we can keep the outputs at the current status and changes on output process image don't have any effect on the actuators. What is the proper application of these functions in practice? Thanks

You have defined a group of decentral outputs. Now you are sending data from the CPU to the DP-Slave. Each slave will get this new data one after the other and not at the same time. Using the sync command the slaves will get this new data but they wouldn't send them to their real outputs. They will wait for the SYNC command which will be send from the CPU too. Then all the slaves will actualize there outputs at the same time. FREEZE is interesting when I want to get I/O data from different slaves with the same "timestamp" All the slaves of one FREEZE group will freeze the input data at the same moment whenthey get the command from the CPU. Hulzhex Gold Member Joined: 8/25/2005 Last visit: 3/21/2025 Posts: 1162 Rating: (111)	Hello hdhosseini, Sending an UNsync- or UNfreeze- commandwill stop the SYNC and FREEZE functionallity for your group immediately. So I/O's and the data will be updated asynchrone again. The commands should be send controlled. SYNC if there are new data which should be given to the outputs and FREEZE if you think, that Input date have been changed and you need the new one. Hope this will be helpfull Best regards Sabine
