System 3 clamp check alarm Please help ?

Shottie_gp Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	Hi Guys . Ive recently got hold ofa cnc lathe with a sinumerik system 3 control on it. Now the axis x or z wont move ? The Alarm error i get is "111 clamp check". If i leave the machine over night and swith on then it seems to be fine for a while . Once ive referenced the machine the first time then i can move the axis via the jog function but as soon as i want to reference the machine again it stops . What will cause this problem and how do i go about fixing it ? If i press reset the alarm dissapears from the screen but as soon as i try move one of the axis it just comes back . Any help would be greatly appreciated ! Thanks in advance.

I think the text is actually 'clamping check' Looks like when your drives warm up they have too much drift and the axis is not pulling into position quickly enough or the axis is not responding quickly enough. It is also possible the analog out from the control is not functioning correctly but it is more likely to be the servo drive. Error 111 is for the second axis which will be the Z. Check the following error and take out any drift. Pee

Shottie_gp Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	Hi Guys. So i was looking at the panel at the back of the machine . I reset all the breakers and checked all the contactors . Now in the panel is a "box" some of the wiring plugs into . It also has the backup battery on it . I see there are 2 reset buttons .... 1: This one is close to the battery and has a fault monitoring switch above it with the fault outputvoltage light above that . 2: This one is on the opposite side of the box and has a restart switch above it and a run/stop type toggle switch and ared and green led above that . My question is could i press these reset buttons and try the machine again ? Would i lose any data in the control ? Do i needto write down some settings before i do this ? Please guys any help would be appreciated. Since im in South Africa it seems difficult to get someone here who knows what they talking aboutand if you can find someone the costs are astranomical . Thanks.

Shottie_gp Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	Hi Guys Just some feedback .... Seems one of the drives was not getting decent power supply. There was a loose wire on one of the transformers supplying power to the drives . All is sorted and now im ready to start cutting ! Thanks again for the replies .
