Tag 'Quality' in WinCC

The connections themselves seem fine, but with individual tags it seems to be a lottery. Some tags report a 'Quality' of 80 (these work), and some report 4C (these don't seem to). Looking into the help file, a fully 'healthy' tag needs to report CC, unless I've misunderstood something. The quality reported does not seem to be relevant to the tag type in WinCC, but may have a bearing on the type of Word that PLC address is set to. Any ideas? thanks.

Ikkezelf Posts: 1084 Rating: (72)	Hi, TagQuality of 80 is good. Under normal circumstances I have also tag quality 80 on my plc connections (tags). If I'm not mistaken then 4C means "start value". Nothing is worng with the tag, the only thing is that you haven't retrieved any information (yet) from this tag. Find a tag in WinCC explorer that has quality 4C. Now navigate to the screen where you have connected this tag to one of your objects (if you don't have it connected, please place e.g. a IO-Field on your screen and connect the tag to it). If everything goes as expected then the quality will change from 4C to 80 (if at least the addressing is oke, but else you will get an "error" tag quality). Let me know if this does it for you.

The tags with quality 80 contain the correct values, as read from the PLC. The tags with quality4C contain their start values, and not the values in the PLC. There seems to be no pattern to which tags work and which don't. It is not dependent on Tag Type, Data Block or PLC Connection.

I've been programming the SCADA without the hardware up until last week. As a test, I copied a working tag, and modified it to replace a non-working tag (re-naming it and changing it's address. The new tag works, but I didn't see a difference.

Are you now recreating the tags? With other words, IS your problem solved or do you need some more information (not sure if I have any relevant new info for you).? with regards, Ikkezelf

I thought there might be some 'hidden' difference that I was not aware of, that othershad discovered when they had a similar problem. Will I be able to tell the difference between a non-working tag, and a 'dormant' one? Will I have a similar problem with my internal tags?

I'm going through the process of replacing the tags as I troubleshoot them. My only thought is that this kind of glitch may be caused by changing versions halfway through a project. I'm sure this project was started on V6.0 SP2, and now we're working with SP3 (still waiting for SP4 to arrive [:(])

Ikkezelf Posts: 1084 Rating: (72)	When you install the wincc application. then you can select the option "manual selection of components" By selecting this option you will get the possibility to select the "Tag export/import tool"as well. I find it VERY Usefull, so I would consider an installation over your current one, and wincc only installs those that you don't already have installed. Let me know how it goes.
