tagname from DB number

cldu Posts: 14 Rating: (0)	Hello! I want to write some piece of code (C code in WinCC for PCS7 7.1) which has to read(get,find) the tagname of one process object knowing its DB number (address). I want actually to trigger the C code event for reading the tagname when the DB number has changed (I read the DB number from the PLC). I wil use this tagname to pop-up its corresponding faceplate with the loopinalarm function. Thanks a lot

Phantom75 Posts: 2661 Rating: (279)	Hi, I am really curious why you want to go about in this roundabout way, especially since you are using PCS7... With script almost anything can be done but what's the point of defeating the entire PCS7 system structure?? Besides, using DB numbers is not a reliable technique since the numbers can change in some situations... Please tell us more about your application and I am sure many will be more than willing to post solutions here. Regards

cldu Posts: 14 Rating: (0)	Thanks Phantom75 for your fast reply. I have programmed an AS block, an extended interlock block with 32 inputs with more functionalities than the standard one has. Now the idea is to add a new functionality. I want that from this extended interlock faceplate to be able to access the faceplate of one process object which is connected to it as a condition of interlock. For example at the input I1.1 of my ext. block will be connected the output Q_AUT of the MOTOR block, that is if the MOTOR is in auto or manual it is a condition of interlock. In wincc runtime the operator checks the conditions not met in the extended interlock faceplate and wants to click on one condition to check directly the device's faceplate, a motor in this case. So I have solved by now the problem of getting the DB number of connected conditon process object inside my interlock block, but now I just want to find in wincc its tagname in order to get access to its faceplate by "loopinalarm" function with tagname AS argument. I hope now is clear, Thank you

cldu Posts: 14 Rating: (0)	I have tried but its fuctionality doesn't satisfy since the descriptions of interlock conditions are limited to the size of s7_string0/1 and I want much longer descriptions and also the overriding of the conditions is not possible to be done individually. The number of conditions is not an advantage of my block(32 inputs) since also FB75es can be interconnected in cascade to achieve this. But finally would be nice for me to obtain the behaviour I told you. So whatever blocks are connected to my block automatically in wincc the coorespondig faceplate it is available also from the interlock's faceplate. I suppose sometimes as you said after compilation the number of the DBes are reindexed but in my the interlock's faceplate will be prepared C code for each of the inputs (when DB number changed find again the tagname). There is no need to search for tagname from db, please do something like this; Add some strings to the “extended interlockblock, one fore each interlock, i.e. 32 new strings. Make them internal or from plc, your choice. In those simply write the tagname off the object involved. In your interlock-faceplate read this string, and check if this tagname exist. If it’s a real tagname, with a faceplate, enable the function for open faceplate from interlock-faceplate. The serverprefix must not be forgotten, so you must use c-script. //PD

cldu Posts: 14 Rating: (0)	I came with this idea because I saw one customized library created by SIEMENS for Italcimenti and there is this functionality. They use pointers as inputs (pointer to connected object for getting the DB number of the connected block) and the DB numbers are output with s7_m_c true. They use one customized "open faceplate" script and inside it they make the update for all interconnected blocks (tagname, block comment etc.). The script is password protected and I cannot make an idea. Did you ever find something like this? However thank you very much for your prompt assistance. Regards

I can’t find the name of the block we know the number of DB. Do you have found the solution?? Thank you in advance
