Testing communication with Simocode

FrankyGoestoHolywood Regular Member Joined: 10/13/2017 Last visit: 10/19/2020 Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	Hi, I am new to PLC programming and was tasked with writing a program to simply check if we are communicating with a simocode that is on the field. So far from my understanding, I have to use SFC14 to read data and SFC15 to write. And this is what I end up with: LADDER CODE.JPG What is confusing for me right now is targetting, addressing, the device I need to check on the Profibus network. Also, would those two blocks be enough to control if we are indeed communicating with the simocode? Attachment LADDER CODE.JPG (302 Downloads)

Mr. SIRIUS Bronze-Expert Joined: 5/17/2010 Last visit: 12/7/2024 Posts: 226 Rating: (28)	Hi there, Your HWConfig shows an old SIMOCODE-DP 3UF5 device, are you sure that you have the right object used and you don't have a SIMOCODE pro 3UF7 device? Further you should be able to access the cyclic data (process image) by using the shown I/O address range of the SIMOCODE (you find this by selecting the SIMOCODE object at HWConfig at the lower slot overview). Would be great to read from you if this fixed your problem. With best regards Michael

Could you explain a more about the cyclic data part, I don't fully understand.

Mr. SIRIUS Bronze-Expert Joined: 5/17/2010 Last visit: 12/7/2024 Posts: 226 Rating: (28)	Hi, at HWConfig you find the I/O address range of the DP-Slave at the slot overview when the focus is on DP-slave object. This address range can be directly used at your PLC program for data access. For example if you have parameterized the Basic Type 2 at SIMOCODE-DP and HWConfig and you have the input address range 5...8 you will get signaling data bits at Byte 5 and 6 (e.g. Bit 5.1 for OFF state, Bit 5.2 for ON> state, Bit5.6 for general fault state, bit 5.7 for general warning state). At Byte 2 and 3 you will get the current motor current value in % on your set current parameterization. You can use these input bits directly at your PLC programming like you do this with local I/O modules. Same for output addresses of SIMOCODE-DP. .E.g. Output Bit x.2 is used for start command. All the mentioned bit assignment are default settings but it is also possible to change this assignment at SIMOCODE-DP parameterization. That's why you need to check how the assignment is parameterized to make sure you use the correct bits at PLC programming. Also tried accessing the memory areas as you said by just calling the address I see in HW Config but it always kept giving me errors so in the end I just addressed them as the examples in the manual. Now I just have to wait for the day we'll go back on the field to test the program and hope that it works. Attachment SIMO.jpg (277 Downloads)
